Southern Kings Head Coach Deon Davids rang the changes when he named his team to face the Cardiff Blues in a GUINNESS PRO14 Championship match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium tomorrow (Saturday). The run-on XV shows a total of five changes – two in the backline and three amongst the forwards – from the side that did duty against Munster at Outeniqua Park in George last weekend whilst there are also wholesale changes on the bench.

Luzuko Vulindlu

A groin injury to flyhalf Martin Du Toit means that Ntabeni Dukisa gets another opportunity to show his worth in the number 10 jersey whilst Luzuko Vulindlu is restored to the starting line-up at centre in place of Jacques Nel.

Schalk Ferreira once again captains the Kings from the front-row where tighthead prop Rossouw De Klerk makes a welcome return after a long absence. He takes over from Pieter Scholtz. There’s a change amongst the locks too where Bobby De Wee moves from number 5 to number 4 and Lubabalo Mtyanda gets a start as his partner.

With the hard-working Andisa Ntsila unavailable for this match there’s also a long-awaited start for Lusando Badiyana in the number 6 jersey.

Justin Forwood and Luvuyo Pupuma are all that remain of the replacements that lined up against Munster. Coach Davids has recalled Tango Balekile, Welemu Lindokuhle, Khaya Majola, Rudi van Rooyen, Alshaun Bock and Harlon Klaasen.

This will be the Kings’ penultimate fixture before they wrap up their campaign at home to the Cheetahs on Saturday, April 28 and Coach Davids has challenged his players to finish their season on a strong note. “We have played some good rugby this season and improved across all areas. Whilst poor decision-making and execution at crucial times has cost us dearly, I do feel that with a little more luck on our side we would have more than just the one win to show for our efforts. This team certainly has it in them,” he said.

The Kings will certainly have their work cut out for them against a Cardiff Blues side that ran the Cheetahs close last weekend before a late penalty try consigned them to a 29-27 defeat.

Tomorrow’s match between the Kings and the Cardiff Blues will kick off at 19h35 (SA Time). Tickets are available online from as well as from TicketPro outlets.
