For the first time fans of the Guinness PRO14 will be able to watch a live game on YouTube after a trial was agreed between the Championship and one its broadcast partners, TG4.
Tonight’s Round 8 fixture between Glasgow Warriors and Leinster Rugby will be streamed on TG4’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q76INPXavRM) and available to viewers in the Republic of Ireland only.
This will be in addition to the live television broadcast in Scotland by BBC ALBA and will allow fans of both teams to watch the action of this eagerly anticipated clash between the 2014 and 2015 title winners.
Martin Anayi, CEO of PRO14 Rugby, said: “Interest in the Guinness PRO14 has never been higher, which is thanks to the great brand of rugby our teams play and our expansion into South Africa. Views of our digital highlights are up across all platforms this season and the prospect of streaming one of our games on YouTube is hugely appealing.
“I’d like to thank TG4 for their initiative in allowing us to come up with an innovative solution that will reward supporters in Ireland who are very much looking forward to this fixture. From a Championship perspective, digital broadcasting is an exciting prospect and this game will give us some very valuable information as we look towards the future.”
