Blues too good for Warriors

jmcconnell 22 Sep 2006

Cardiff Blues made it seven home wins in a row with a 27-9 victory over Glasgow Warriors at the Arms Park.

Former All Black Ben Blair slotted the opening points for the Blues courtesy of a penalty and he added another soon after that gave the hosts due reward for their endeavour.

The Kiwi then grabbed the first try of the game after some good work by young centre Tom Riley and then added the easy conversion.

It was late in the first period before the visitors made a notable foray into Blues’ territory and it resulted in Dan Parks kicking his first penalty of the game. It was soon followed by his second as Tom Shanklin was penalised for kicking the ball away.

Parks completed his hat-trick after the break but the Blues rallied with Mosese Luveitasau evading the Warriors defence before Blair added the extras.

Shanklin then put the Blues on course for victory with his side’s next try which again was converted by Blair.

To their credit the visitors came close to securing a losing bonus but Chris Czekaj knocked on as he attepted to touch down the loose ball.
