Early tries from Kevin Maggs and Paul Steinmetz had allowed the Irish side to build their lead but  the game was levelled by half time thanks to a try from Paul Boston and three successful  kicks by Brendan Laney.

The visitors came out storming in the second period and led 27-22 thanks to scores from Alistair Hogg and Derrick Lee although David Humphreys had added two penalties to his solitary first half success.

Tommy Bowe and Campbell Feather tries got the home side back in the lead with Steinmetz converting both to add to an earlier penalty. However the visitors were not finished and a late score from David Callam which Laney’s converted set up a tense few minutes but the homes side hung on for their first maximum point return of the season.
