Warburton: Jones return is welcome for Ospreys and Wales

Cardiff Blues back row Sam Warburton believes Ospreys fans should be revelling in the return to competitive action of prop Adam Jones.

Jones made his first appearance for the RaboDirect PRO12 outfit since October 21 in last weekend’s stirring Heineken Cup win over Toulouse.

That knee injury ensured the prop missed the entirety of a painful autumn international campaign for Wales in which they lost all four games.

But having made a winning return to Ospreys action last weekend, Warburton insists the Welsh region’s fans should be just as delighted as he is about the tight-head’s return.

“Scott Andrews did an awesome job (in the autumn internationals) but the experience Adam brings is invaluable,” Wales skipper Warburton told Wales Online.

“He was a key player in last season’s Grand Slam – and Adam provided a lot of leadership in the week leading up to the game with France.

“He’s worth every penny and, from a Welsh point of view, it will be a boost if he plays during the Six Nations.

“It’s a big boost for the opposition when Adam isn’t playing.

“It gives them a mental as much as a physical boost.”
