Ospreys scrum-half Kahn Fotuali’i praised his side’s forwards for a fourth straight home win in the RaboDirect PRO12 as the defending champions eased past Cardiff Blues on Friday.
Tries from James King, Richard Fussell and Morgan Allen handed the Ospreys an impressive 33-12 win with the Blues only troubling the scorers with four penalties.
As a result the Ospreys moved up to fourth in the table and their sticky patch at the start of the season appears well and truly behind them – and Fotuali'i insists it was a well-earned victory.
“It comes down to the forwards, they give us the platform and good ball to our backs, we’re proud of them,” he said.
“They put in all the hard yards, credit to them. We talked about how defence wins games at half-time and we knew we had to dig in and that was key.
“It’s been a good month, it’s been hard work but it’s been fun. We’ve got Europe now and it’s something to look forward to but we’ll come in on Monday and go from there.”
Meanwhile, Blues skipper Josh Navidi, who was sin-binned late on, admits his side face a crucial festive period if they’re to force their way into the play-off reckoning.
He said: “It was just a bit scrappy, there wasn’t enough clean ball for the backs to play with and we were struggling to get over the gain line.
“We need to try and get more points now over the Christmas period so we can climb up the table.”
