Newport Gwent Dragons hooker Hugh Gustafson believes he is finally starting to feel at home in the No. 2 jersey and is out to continue his successful transition this weekend.

Gustafson made the switch from prop to hooker at the start of the season and the 25-year-old endured a tricky start with Steve Jones the Dragons’ go-to man in the No. 2 shirt.

However in recent weeks Gustafson looks to have found his feet in the LV= Cup clash with Northampton and in last week’s RaboDirect PRO12 win over Connacht.

The 14-3 win over Connacht was just the region’s third win of the league campaign and Gustafson admitted his delight at getting to grips with his new surroundings.

“I’ve needed to do a lot of practice and it has been stressful for almost a year since I made the switch,” Gustafson told the South Wales Argus.

“I have enjoyed – it has been a challenge but I’ve accepted the challenge and I think I’ve done all right so far.

“Before the LV Cup games this season I’d only played a handful of games in the Premiership and for the Dragons against Gwent Select.

“But I kept my place for Connacht so I think I’ve grown into it the position.”
