Leinster's Shane Jennings gets away from Benjamin Vermaak of Treviso

Flanker Shane Jennings has dismissed talk of the Irish province being close to invincible – but admits Leinster are in ideal shape to launch a RaboDirect PRO12 title bid.

After their 34-3 Heineken Cup thrashing of the Cardiff Blues, Vern Cotter, coach of Leinster’s semi-final opponents Clermont Auvergne, described the Irish province as ‘almost unbeatable’.

But while admitting the outlook is definitely rosy, with that European semi-final to come and a RaboDirect PRO12 home play-off spot all but in the bag, Jennings has dismissed the mind games of Cotter and co.

“I don't think there's much truth in it to be honest," Jennings told the Irish Independent.

“Unbeatable is certainly not a tag we are putting on ourselves because if you look back two or three weeks we were beaten, and that was here. So that's something we want to rectify. We're certainly not unbeatable.

“Fortunately, this year we're not chasing down the league as we might have been last year.

“We're somewhat more controlled this year with a cushion of points that have helped us. “We've done a lot of good work over the course of the year, which has put us in this position.”
