Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley returns to the Sportsground in Connacht

Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley breathed a sigh of relief as Edinburgh returned to winning ways in the RaboDirect PRO12 with a 26-23 victory against Scarlets on Friday night.

Bradley welcomed back ten Six Nations stars as fly-half Greig Laidlaw kicked 16 points to secure their first league win of the calendar year – and end a run of seven straight RaboDirect PRO 12 defeats.

No. 8 David Denton and a penalty try sent the Scottish side on their way before a late fightback, including tries from Jonathan Davies and Andy Fenby, looked like prolonging Bradley’s wait for a win before a Laidlaw penalty secured the victory.

But with a Heineken Cup quarter-final against Toulouse on the horizon next Saturday, he admits it was crucial to taste victory and build confidence ahead of the visit of the French side.

“It builds well for next weekend, as we have the win, but there’s still plenty to work on,” said Bradley.

“It was great to get back to a dressing room and have a win. We had a very good first-half and a nervous second, but it was great to get there in the end.

“It was always going to be a tough game against a high-flying and very strong Scarlets side. We showed a lot of character to get the win tonight.”
