Treviso full-back Brendan Williams admits his side have been hit hard by Six Nations call-ups but is confident they can pick up their first win of 2012 in the RaboDirect PRO12 against the Scarlets.

Williams was one of the shining lights for Treviso in the first half of the season but the Italians have struggled since the turn of the year, notably when the spine of their team was called up by the Azzurri.

Ten Treviso players will start for Jacques Brunel’s side with a further three on the bench leaving coach Franco Smith with a mixture of imports and up-and-coming players.

But Williams is not going to use that as an excuse although he admits they face a steep test at Parc y Scarlets.

"We are going through a bit of a tough patch at the moment, so our target is just to get back out there and start winning again,” Williams told the South Wales Evening Post.

"It is going to be difficult against the Scarlets, who are a great team. They have a lot of young guys in there and are probably the fastest team that I have played against in this league.

"We didn't win away at all last season, but our away form this season has been as good as our home form so we have got that confidence when we travel.

"I think it is about 16 we will be missing, but it gives the younger guys a chance to impress and it is pretty much the same for the other sides.

"Rugby in Treviso keeps growing. The crowds are coming out for our PRO12 games, so a strong Benetton can only be good for the national team."
