Wales full-back Leigh Halfpenny contributed 11 points with the boot but missed the chance to put the hosts ahead

Leigh Halfpenny could be in line to take over the kicking duties with Wales after impressing for the Cardiff Blues.

The 23-year-old has taken over from Dan Parks as the main kicker for the region, playing a key role in both the RaboDirect PRO12 and in Europe.

And the exciting winger is now optimistic that he will get the nod when it comes to the kicking responsibilities for the Six Nations after Wales’ troubles at the last World Cup, when four missed shots at goal cost them a place in the final against New Zealand.

He told Walesonline: “I don't know if that chance will materialise, but if it does, all I can say is that it would be a dream come true.

“I think I'm ready for it and I would view it as a great opportunity, a reward for all the hard work I have put in to that part of my game over the last few years, practising every day at Gorseinon RFC.

"I get asked whether I could handle the pressure, and I think I could. My routine, no matter who I'm playing for or how big or hostile the crowd happens to be, is to imagine I am back on that field in Gorseinon.”
