The weather might not be as nice but Tongan Fetu’u Vainikolo insists he is happy to be back in Connacht after World Cup duty to kickstart their RaboDirect PRO12 push.

The 26-year-old starred as Tonga downed Japan 31-18, scoring a try in the process, after playing a huge role as they narrowly lost to Canada the game before.

But the flying winger is now looking forward to life at Connacht after joining from Super 15’s Highlanders in the summer.

And after having to wait to get his first taste of rugby in Ireland, Vainikolo insists he is chomping at the bit to get going after his New Zealand adventure.

“Playing for my home country was a huge honour and being part of the World Cup was an amazing experience,” he said.

“For some players it’s a once in a lifetime achievement so I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to test myself at the highest level.

“Being back in the Connacht squad is great, the weather isn’t quite the same but it’s good to be back involved with the team and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the league now.”
