After watching his side dispose of Cardiff Blues on Sunday in the LV=Cup Scarlets head coach Nigel Davies admitted they have what it takes to go all the way in the competition.

The 30-3 win over their RaboDirect PRO12 rivals earned the Scarlets their second bonus-point win of this year’s cup that puts them top of Pool Three in the process.

Adam Warren, Kirby Myhill, Richie Pugh and Kieran Murphy ran in the tries for the visitors as Aled Thomas added ten points with the boot, Cardiff's only scoring contribution was a Rhys Patchell penalty.

And Davies insisted that rather than focusing all their energies on their domestic league his troops will give their utmost in the cup competitions as well.

"We will have a go at it, we will have a crack. It is do-able for us this season," he said.

"It is one of the three competitions we are in, so we have tried not to look at it as anything different in our season, and have not made as many changes as in previous years to keep a level of consistency.

"We have got a good record here at the moment. I am very pleased we kept some momentum going. We haven't viewed these games as LV= Cup per se, just games we want to compete in to go back into the league season.

"The difference was that we were probably a bit more experienced and a bit further down the road in giving our younger players some experience that will only pay dividends.

"There are a few players putting their hands up and it is great to have that level of competition. Our younger players have had a lot of experience of playing in the higher competitions and that has to benefit everyone."

Elsewhere Owen Farrell was the star of the show as Saracens ran out 43-20 victors against Exeter, the 20-year-old fly-half finishing with a personal haul of 28 points in the resounding bonus-point win.

Delon Armitage made a try-scoring return to domestic rugby as London Irish disposed of Newcastle 39-23, Alan Thompstone running in two scores of his own in the success at the Madejski Stadium.
