Leinster will continue to fly the flag for the Magners League sides in the Heineken Cup after reaching the last four of the competition with a 17 v 10 victory over English Champions Leicester.

The 2010 Magners League Grand Finalists will now host reigning European Champions Toulouse at the Aviva Stadium on 30 April for a place in the final which is to be held in Cardiff on 21 May.

In a repeat of the 2009 Heineken Cup final, Leinster once again came out on top against the Tigers, Isa Nacewa scoring the hosts only try while Jonathan Sexton kicked four penalties to give the Irish side a thoroughly deserved victory.

The win delighted head coach Joe Schmidt who is looking to lead his side to Magners and European glory this year.

“It is great to get through and fantastic to get a home tie,” he said.

“You could hear for yourself out their today, the crowd were fantastic and they lifted us today so credit to them and the semi-final will be another great day for Leinster.

“I though we showed some real character out their today.

“The crucial area for us was not finishing, I think we made more line breaks and beat the defence quite well but we just didn’t finish things off.

“Our guys put so much effort in and they can be very proud of their performance.

“The semi-final is three weeks away, so we need to look after ourselves before we come back here and back into the cauldron.”

Current Magners League leaders Munster have also reached a European semi-final after beating Brive 42 v 37 in the quarter-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup.

English side Harlequins will travel to Thomond Park again on 30 April, the winners of that tie will travel to Cardiff for the final on 20 May.
