Wales second-row Luke Charteris has hailed the new coaching regime at Rodney Parade as ‘one of the best around’.

The Dragons are currently unbeaten since Darren Edwards took temporary charge in South Wales and Charteris is pleased with the current set-up which has also seen former Wales flanker Rob Appleyard drafted in as defence coach.

“From a player’s point of view, we’ve got one of the best coaches around,” said the Giant lock.

“But we’ve not only got a great coach, we’ve got the likes of Shaun Connor, Danny Wilson and Rob Appleyard, who has just joined us and is working with the boys on their defence.

“We feel we’ve got one of the best coaching set-ups and now we’re seeing the benefits of that on the field.”

The Dragons are up to seventh in the table but face a tricky tie away to current league leaders Munster in Cork on Saturday.
