Andy Robinson has called up nine players to join his squad of 25 who were on duty in Paris last weekend as he prepares his Scotland squad for Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations match against Wales.
Johnnie Beattie, Jon Welsh (both Glasgow Warriors), Greig Laidlaw, Geoff Cross (both Edinburgh) Rory Lamont (Toulon), Simon Danielli (Ulster), Alex Grove (Worcester), Jack Cuthbert (Bath) and Scott Lawson (Gloucester) all linked up with the squad who trained at Murrayfield yesterday afternoon.
Glasgow wing Max Evans (dead leg) and Ospreys flyer Nikki Walker (knee) both sat out the squad training session yesterday but are expected to resume training later this week.
Scotland were defeated 34 v 21 by defending Champions France in Paris on Saturday but played more than their part in a fast-flowing encounter which lit up the opening round of the 2011 tournament.
Glasgow second-row Alastair Kellock led from the front in his first RBS 6 Nations match as captain, scoring his side’s first try from close range.
Whilst head coach Robinson was pleased with some aspects of the performance he knows it is victories that matter.
“We don’t play in this championship to be unlucky losers,” he said.
“Yes, we’ve done some good things today and I was proud of the players’ attitude and many of the things we did, but the simple fact is we did not show enough composure when we had the ball.”
