Scarlets wing Morgan Stoddart is a fitness doubt for Wales’ second RBS 6 Nations match away to Scotland after breaking a bone in his hand.

The 26-year-old made a try scoring return to international rugby at the weekend, crossing in his country’s defeat to England at the Millennium Stadium on Friday but suffered the injury in the final quarter of the game.

Stoddart will be assessed by a specialist today (Monday) to discover the full extent of the injury but it is hoped he will play a further part in the tournament.

“Morgan has broken a metacarpal bone in his right hand and will have a consultation with a hand surgeon when he reports back to the Wales camp on Monday,” said Wales physiotherapist Mark Davies.

“It is too soon to say how long he will be in recovery but it is hoped that he will be back in contention for selection soon and be able to play a further part in the Championship.

“We will have a clearer idea of when he may return to play be Monday.”
