Cardiff Blues director of rugby Dai Young has issued a Magners League rallying call to his troops.

The Blues return to league action against Glasgow Warriors in three weeks time and Young has called on his squad to gain momentum in other competitions as they target the Magners League crown.

"This year we've put more focus on the Magners League," said Young. "We don’t have an easy run-in, but again, we can’t hide behind that. It’s up to everyone to stand up and be counted.

"We're disappointed with our Heineken campaign. We can’t go through, but we will be going to Edinburgh on Saturday to win because only by doing that can we gain momentum to take into the Magners League campaign."

The Blues have a difficult league run-in with seven of their remaining 10 games away from home starting with the trip to Firhill to face Glasgow.

Young has warned a number of players who are in the twilight of their career that now is the time to prove their worth.

"There are quite a few of the guys we have who are coming to the end of their careers who want to keep going as long as they can," added Young.

"Well, we’ll see what they have to offer in the next couple of months. We have to make sure we get into that top four, that’s the long and the short of it. If we end up not achieving that, then we will have to look at changes, we can’t just leave things as they are."
