Glasgow’s main casualty from a bruising 30-18 victory over Edinburgh in the first leg of the Greaves Sports 1872 Cup, Graeme Morrison, today backed his team-mates to do the double over their Scottish rivals.

In an exclusive video interview with www.glasgowwarriors.org, Morrison, who will be sidelined in the coming weeks due to a knee injury, said: “I think it’s vitally important that you win your home leg and that’ll stand us in good stead for next week.

“Obviously going over to Murrayfield to play against them on their home patch will be a different challenge and it’s something we have to really get up for this week.

“I’m confident the guys will be relishing the challenge of going over there and trying to emulate the double which is something we did last year.”

Looking back on the opening encounter, Morrison continued: “I think both teams came out and really fronted up. There was a lot of aggression in that game and you could tell from some of the collisions that were going on that there was certainly no love lost between the two teams.

“The positive from a Glasgow perspective is that we managed to score three tries and win the game.”

Although a fantastic end result for Glasgow, Morrison is left with the personal frustration of knowing that he will now miss the return match, but he hopes to be back sooner rather than later.

“I took a bit of a bang on my knee. I’m not sure what the situation with that is so the next few days will be vital recovery-wise. Hopefully it won’t be too long until I’m back out there with the guys.”
