Wins will come says Edinburgh boss

Rob Moffat has faith that Edinburgh’s first win of the season is just around the corner as their performances continue to improve.

Defeat in Ulster at the weekend leaves the Scottish side level on points with Aironi at the foot of the Magners League table with just a solitary losing bonus point to their name.

Moffat was encouraged by his side’s outing in Ravenhill, though, and is targeting a victory when Magners League Grand Finalists Leinster visit Murrayfield on Friday evening.

“I thought it was a really good effort. It’s never easy going over to Ravenhill and not many sides win over there,” said Moffat.

“When we had the ball and kept it we looked dangerous, but we lost a couple of line-outs and re-starts and that killed us.

“It was a good defensive effort – we just leaked a couple of soft tries and, along with the number of penalties we conceded, we couldn’t get any momentum into our game.

“We are talking about the performance and I am a believer that, if you keep improving your performance, the results will come. We started last season with three wins: this is completely different but this league is over 22 games and a lot will happen.

“We must keep faith in what we are trying to do and then the performance will lead to a win, hopefully against Leinster next week.”

Leinster completed the double over Edinburgh last season and will themselves be looking to bounce back from defeat in Treviso on Saturday.
