Richard Fussell insists he is ready to fight for a first team place on the wing at the Ospreys.

Summer signing Fussell linked up with his new team-mates last week following his move from Newport Gwent Dragons.

The Ospreys already boast Lions wingers Shane Williams and Tommy Bowe as well as Scotland international Nikki Walker and Wales' youngest player Tom Prydie.

But, despite the stiff competition, Fussell, fresh from five years at Rodney Parade, believes he can claim a starting berth.

"It's an exciting challenge. I was at the Dragons for five years, and it was like home for me," said the 25-year-old Fussell.

"It was a big decision to move but I think I needed the change. I want to settle in quickly here and, hopefully, I can do well for the Ospreys.

"In Shane and Tommy I'd say that we've probably got two of the best wingers in the world, and there is also Nikki and some really talented youngsters coming through.

"So being around players of that quality and working with them day in, day out, and testing myself in training against them can only be a positive thing.

"Hopefully it will allow me to improve my own game to the level where maybe I can get closer to international rugby."

Fussell scored 23 tries in 78 appearances for the Dragons and has signed a two-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.
